Rats as Pets

Yes, I said Rats. They make awesome pets and are clean.   Most Rats do not bite, compared to a hamster or gerbil, in the past I have had pet rats and mostly just one rat at a time. I used to keep the rat in a 10 Gal aquarium which I find out is wrong. The rat would just lie in the Aquarium all day and looked depressed. Times have changed for the better for the rat. I started reading and doing research. Rats are sociable. Always have at least two Rats together, same sex of course or you will have many more unless they are neutered. Rats like to run and play with each other and their toys. Homemade toys are the best and are cheap.   Housing:   First let me talk about housing for the Rats. Please don’t keep them in an aquarium. The air does not circulate in them to well and the ammonia builds up quickly from their urine and will cause the rats to have upper respiratory infections. Rats are clean; they clean themselves daily like a cat. They also can be l...

Hot Weather Tips for Pets

We are in the summer months of the year here in Arizona where we need to watch and take precautions to keep our pets safe from the heat.   Water & Shade is a must Water needs to be available at all times. Recommend that the water be changed daily to make sure it stays at a cooler temperature, or better yet place some ice cubes in the water. If the water is outside, keep the water container in a shady area of the yard. Using a larger container will help too. Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh, clean water when it's hot outdoors. Make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun. Be careful to not exercise them during the hottest part of the day between 10 am – 4 pm or even later as the asphalt can stay hot longer, the dogs are closer to the asphalt too. The pads can protect their feet but only to a point. The dog’s pads can burn, peel, they can get very raw and even blistered. The black bed liner of a truck is just as bad.   P...

Dog Walking Service

There are many benefits to why people need to hire a Professional Dog Walker. Some owners do not have the time in their busy schedule or don’t have a yard because they live in an apartment. Some are physically unable to take their dog(s) for a walk. There are certain dog breeds that require more exercise than others.   A dog needs a job to do. If they just lay around the yard or the home, they will develop bad habits, like excessive barking, chewing and tearing up things in the house, digging in the yard or even worse digging under the fence.   Having a Professional Dog Walker provides the opportunity to release some of the pent up aggression and energy that builds up throughout the day while positively reinforcing routines, practicing proper leash etiquette (not pulling on the leash etc…) and working on some basic walk training such as “sit” before crossing the street, heel, come and street etiquette (not barking at other people, dogs etc.)  We here at Happ...

Valentines Day Is Fast Approaching

Everytime Valentines Day comes around, what do you think about?  Chocolate , flowers, going out to dinner or just a nice dinner at home.....  I want to send a reminder out that Chocolate and certain flowers are poisonus to our pets.  If you have a puppy that gets into everything, please make sure these things are put up out of reach. Cats go everywhere, so it will be tough to keep flowers out of their reach. Put the flowers in a room with the door closed when you are not able to supervise your kitty.    If you want to go out to your special dinner and need a Professional Pet Sitter to check on your babies while you are gone to Tucson to a special resturant, give us a call. 520-249-6635. We still have some space on our schedule.   Have a wonderful and safe Valentines Day!!!                             ...
